MD Reader Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
MD Reader ("the app") is an offline markdown reader and editor for Android. We wrote this policy to be short, because the app has very little to say about your data: it doesn't collect any.
1. Data we collect
None. The app doesn't collect, store on our servers, sell or share any personal or usage data. We run no servers for the app.
- The app does not request the Internet permission, so it can't send data off your device.
- It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
- It requires no account or sign-in.
2. Data that stays on your device
To work, the app keeps the following only on your device:
- Documents you open or edit. The app reads and writes files you choose through the Android file picker, the share sheet or "Open with". If you edit a document, the app saves your changes back to that file.
- Settings, such as theme, font size, text width and language.
- Reading positions and recently opened documents.
- Version history of documents you edit.
This data stays in the app's private storage or in the files you picked. It's removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Your files themselves are never deleted by uninstalling the app.
3. Permissions
The app accesses only the files you explicitly choose to open or save. It doesn't scan your storage and doesn't request location, contacts, camera, microphone or network permissions.
4. In-app purchase
MD Reader Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play. Google processes your payment under the Google Privacy Policy. We don't receive your payment details. The app only checks with Google Play on your device whether Pro has been purchased.
Occasionally the app may ask Google Play to show its rating prompt. Google Play decides whether to show it and handles your rating; the app isn't told whether or how you rated.
5. Links in documents
If a document you open contains a web link and you tap it, Android opens it in your own browser or another app. That app's privacy policy then applies.
6. Children
The app isn't directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data ever changes (for example, if a feature needs the Internet), we'll update this policy and the "Last updated" date before releasing that change.

If you tap Send feedback, the app opens your own email app with a draft that includes the app version, Android version, device model and app language, so we can look into problems. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. We use your email only to reply to you.
