How to read and save Claude answers on Android
Claude often answers with long, structured text: headings, tables, code, sometimes math or a Mermaid diagram. It also creates downloadable documents, which are frequently .md files. On Android, both can be awkward to read outside the Claude app.
Reading a copied answer
- Tap the copy button under Claude's answer. It copies the markdown source.
- Open MD Reader and tap Paste from clipboard.
- The answer is shown as a formatted document.
You can also use Share in the Claude app and choose MD Reader, if your version offers sharing the text.
Opening a .md file Claude created
When Claude gives you a document to download, it's usually saved in your Downloads folder.
- Open Files → Downloads.
- Tap the
.mdfile and choose MD Reader.
Or open MD Reader, tap Open file, and pick it from Downloads. More options are in how to open a .md file on Android.
What renders properly
Claude's answers use more than basic markdown. MD Reader handles:
- Tables. They scroll sideways on narrow screens instead of breaking.
- Code blocks with syntax highlighting and a copy button.
- Math.
$...$and$$...$$LaTeX are rendered. See LaTeX math on Android. - Mermaid diagrams. Flowcharts and sequence diagrams are drawn on the device. See Mermaid diagrams on Android.
- Callouts like
> [!NOTE]. - Unknown tags. Text like
<example>is shown as written instead of disappearing.
Keeping answers for later
Once an answer is open, use Save as… to store it as a .md file anywhere you like. It stays a plain text file, so any markdown app can open it later, and you're not tied to a single app. The guide to saving AI answers as markdown has the full workflow.
Privacy
MD Reader doesn't request internet access, so pasted answers and opened files stay on your phone.
